Winter can be such a boring time of year in terms of style. Fall is amazing with all the cozy layers and lightweight jackets, but winter, it just screws you over with weather so cold that unless you’re dressed to go dog sledding in the north pole (which usually isn’t the best look), you’re miserable and cold. So when we were blessed with a somewhat mild day, weather-wise, I jumped on the chance to just throw on a top coat with a few essentials, and hit the town.

I recently added this Frank+Oak black and white plaid shirt, along with the black skinnies to my wardrobe and knew they’d be perfect for this more fall-like day. I loved the sharp contrast of the plaid the moment I saw it, and the incredible fit was just a bonus.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good black and white outfit, but sometimes it needs a little help to give it that extra something. [Insert cognac accessories]. BOOM. Instantly it goes from ordinary, to handsomely rich.

Paired with my new favorite chelsea boots from Aldo, a great belt, and of course a matching bag, I think this B&W look was a total win. What about you? Leave me a comment and let me know. Do you love the cognac accents, or would you stick to the expected and go with black?

Love the accents! (And the model too!) It’s amazing how those small addition of colour make such a big impact on the overall look.
